ABOUT ME

Hi there, and welcome to PaulaKitchen.com! My name is Diana Lopes, I was born on September 1, 1994, and I live in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal. I’m a proud mom of two amazing kids, and when I’m not chasing after little feet or wiping flour off the counter, I’m usually in my kitchen, surrounded by the warm smells of something sweet, buttery, and soul-hugging.

Cooking has always been in my blood. I grew up in a home where food was more than just something we ate—it was how we expressed love, celebrated life, and honored tradition. Some of my most precious memories are of my grandmother and me sitting together on the sofa, wide-eyed in front of the television, watching Paula Deen work her magic. There was something about the way Paula talked about food, the way she used ingredients with such joy and confidence, that made us feel like she was cooking right there in our kitchen.

We would try to recreate Paula’s recipes as best we could with what we had in Lisbon, and each attempt came with laughter, a little improvisation, and a whole lot of butter. Paula’s dishes brought us closer together, and over time, they became a part of our family table, our holiday feasts, and even our everyday meals.

When my grandmother passed, I felt a hole in my heart and in my kitchen. But every time I made one of Paula Deen’s dishes, I could feel her with me again, guiding my hands, smiling through the steam. That feeling is what inspired me to create PaulaKitchen.com—a cozy little corner of the internet where I can share not only Paula Deen’s timeless Southern recipes but also my personal journey with them, and the tips and stories passed down from my grandmother.

This blog is for home cooks, busy parents, beginner bakers, and anyone who finds joy in the smell of cornbread in the oven or the creamy comfort of mac and cheese on a rainy day. Whether you’re new to Southern cooking or a longtime fan like me, I hope you’ll find something here that makes your kitchen a little warmer, your table a little fuller, and your heart a little happier.

So grab your apron, preheat that oven, and let’s make some memories together. From my Lisbon kitchen to yours—with love, butter, and a dash of Southern charm.
