A flavorful Blackstone beef and broccoli recipe with tender marinated beef, crisp broccoli, and a rich savory sauce.

  • 2–3 tbsp cooking oil (grapeseed or avocado oil)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1–1.5 lb beef (flank or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 5 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp chopped garlic
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

1. Pat sliced beef dry and place in a bowl

2. Sprinkle baking soda over the beef, toss well, cover, and refrigerate for 20 minutes

3. Rinse beef thoroughly and pat dry again

4. Whisk together beef broth, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, ginger, brown sugar, and garlic to make the sauce

5. Preheat griddle to 375–400°F and add cooking oil

6. Cook beef in a single layer for 60–90 seconds, season with black pepper, then sauté briefly

7. Move beef to a cooler side of the griddle

8. Add broccoli to the griddle, season with black pepper, and cook for 2–3 minutes

9. Pour half the sauce over the broccoli and continue cooking

10. Return beef to the broccoli and pour remaining sauce over everything

11. Stir and cook for 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens

12. Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve hot

Notes

Do not skip rinsing the baking soda from the beef to avoid an off taste

Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness

Adjust spice level by adding more red pepper flakes or sriracha

Serve with rice or noodles for a complete meal
